Road to 40 Lesson 3: Stay Calm Through it All

Y’all. Okay. This is NOT the blog post I intended but a lesson came out of it and that is a clear sign someone needs it. You see, I wrote an entirely different post initially. The wording was perfect, I had a cute little anecdote, the Whole Nine, you know? Sistagirl LeeLee thought she was doing something. Umm hmm…sure did. Then, as it was time to publish the post, I clicked the wrong button hastily and DELETED THE ENTIRE POST!

Y’all, when I say my heart dropped, I felt every bit of my heart go to my stomach. I was like, “You’ve GOT to be kidding me.” I dropped my head for about 10 seconds, but then I was like, “Nah. This ain’t ruinin’ my day. I ain’t panickin’ although I could.” So, instead of the lesson I intended, I’m sharing this lesson instead: Stay calm through it all.

Regardless of what you face today, this week, or anytime for that matter, do your best to remain calm. Sure, it’s easier said than done, but you have the choice and control to not let anything or anyone rip or rob you of your joy. Joy is not the same as happiness. Joy is an internal decision that is not based on circumstances. You can be going through hardships and still have joy. Joy is a deeper, spiritual connection with our Creator in that there is both contentment and peace simultaneously, and negative emotions do not dictate your actions in that difficulty. It’s not worth getting yourself worked up and out of pocket because of life or other people.

Panic adds more trauma, and while you acknowledge and recognize that which causes the discomfort, hurt if you need to and feel that pain, but then take a moment to breathe, refocus, whisper a prayer even it’s simply saying “Help” or “I need you, God”, breathe some more, and then take the steps of what to do next.

This is a simple post. It ain’t deep today. But, someone needs it. Please. Think about your well-being enough to really try and stay calm through it all, y’all. Talk to you later.
